It tells the story of Serafina, a hot-headed 16 year old condemned to convent life for a forbidden flirtation with an unsuitable man, and the scholarly Zuana resigned to a similar fate following the death of her father. Their triumphs and defeats as they struggle to adapt to the rigid lifestyle are vividly portrayed in this moving story.
