‘If you didn’t know whether to risk doing something, what’s the worst that could happen? So they call you pisher?’ Full of his trademark wit and lovely, plainspoken prose, Michael Rosen’s forthcoming memoir, So They Call You Pisher? tells the story of the first 23 years of his life. His post-war North London childhood, full of communist camping holidays and stories of missing relatives, and his first adventures in activism as a young man, amid anti-nuclear protests, experimental political theatre and the tumult of 1968.

Michael is the author of more than 140 books of poetry, stories and political commentary, Including We’re Going on a Bear Hunt, Don’t Put Mustard in the Custard and Centrally Heated Knickers. He was Children’s Laureate from 2007-2009 and is currently the Professor of Children’s Literature at Goldsmiths University. The event will be hosted by MLF Patron and Observer critic Rachel Cooke.
