In partnership with MCBF, MMU and the Manchester branch of Amnesty International, we are proud to present an afternoon with North Korean-born writer and activist Sungju Lee. Every Falling Star, his riveting memoir co-written by author and journalist Susan Elizabeth McClelland, recounts his experiences of living on the streets following abandonment by his parents at 12 years old.

Forced to fend for himself, he lives by thieving and fighting, and finds great comfort in his friendships with his fellow gang members, his ‘brothers’. His story introduces audiences to North Korea, one of the most isolated countries in the world, and a culture where many of the freedoms we take for granted do not exist. Chaired by Dr Roz Fox, and suitable for ages 12+.

50% of proceeds from this event will be donated to Manchester Amnesty International Group.
