Manchester Literature Festival has teamed up with ALL FM Community Radio Station for a project celebrating poetry along the A6 Corridor. Earlier this year, we commissioned five poets from the area (Suzanne Batty, Helen Clare, Pete Kalu, Shamshad Khan and Martin De Mello) to produce new poems set in and around the Stockport Road area of Manchester. We also provided training in radio production for a group of volunteer producers who recorded the finished works in location.
The poems were broadcast on the Breakfast and Drive Time shows on ALL FM 96.9, Monday 9th - Friday 13th May 2011. You can now download an omnibus podcast featuring the poems, and interviews with the poets discussing how they have been inspired by everything from reclaimed tips to tropical fish, via the website link below:
POEMS ON THE ROAD project is part of the Connect programme supported by the Community Media Association in partnership with Arts Council England.
