Please note that Manchester City will be playing at home on this day at 1.30pm, so please allow extra travelling time into the city centre.

Jean Sprackland presents a new sequence of poems commissioned by MLF and the Canal & River Trust, and inspired by a boating weekend along the Peak Forest Canal from Whaley Bridge to Castlefield passing through magnificent countryside into post-industrial Manchester.

Jean has published four acclaimed collections of poetry including Tilt (winner of the Costa Poetry Award), Hard Water (shortlisted for both the TS Eliot Prize and the Whitbread Award), and most recently Sleeping Keys, described by Sean O’Brien as 'a book distinguished by rueful but unembittered wisdom'. She is also the author of Strands: A Year of Discoveries on the Beach, and the winner of the Portico Prize for Non-Fiction.

Be the first to hear Jean’s beautiful, witty and original reflections on our waterways and take a stroll along the nearby stretch of canal that inspired them.
