One of the most original and electrifying spoken word artists in the UK, Kate Tempest was crafting rhymes at 16 and performing spoken word at 21. Since then, she’s read her fresh and inventive poetry everywhere from Glastonbury to New York’s Nuyorican poetry slam. Kate recently became the first person under 40 to win the prestigious Ted Hughes Award for her poem Brand New Ancients. Manchester Literature Festival are delighted to present this special event showcasing work from her forthcoming collection, Hold Your Own. Continuing Kate’s fascination with Greek mythology, it’s an ambitious and multi-voiced collection that follows the many transformations of Tiresias. Age Guidance 16+
