Widely considered to be one of the greatest writers of our age, Martin Amis returns to the university where he was inaugural professor of creative writing to read from his forthcoming novel, The Zone of Interest, a love story set in the Holocaust that excavates the depths and contradictions of human nature. Can love survive living hell? And can we even meet each other's eye, after we have seen who we really are? The recipient of the Betty Trask Prize, a Somerset Maugham award, and the Geoffrey Faber Memorial Prize, Nick Laird is the author of two novels and three collections of poetry. His most recent collection of poems, Go Giants, was published last year. The New Yorker said ‘the range of these scrupulous poems suggests there is little in form or content that Laird cannot master.’ Don’t miss what is sure to be a wide-ranging and intellectually stimulating conversation between two men of letters.
