Primal Scream frontman Bobby Gillespie was born into a working-class Glaswegian family in the summer of 1961. His brilliant memoir Tenement Kid charts his childhood, his work as a printers’ apprentice, his rock ‘n’ roll epiphany at a Thin Lizzy gig and his own journey, via the Jesus and Mary Chain and Primal Scream, to cultural icon. Published thirty years after the release of Screamadelica, Bobby Gillespie’s memoir cuts a righteous path through a decade lost to Thatcherism and saved by acid house. Join us to hear Bobby discuss his life, his influences and the making of one of the most innovative albums of the 90s. Hosted by Adelle Stripe, author of Black Teeth and a Brilliant Smile.

Copies of Tenement Kid will be available to collect before the event.

Please note: This event will feature socially distanced seating in order to keep our audiences safe. When you book your seats, the box office will automatically make sure you have empty seats on either side of you. Masks are no longer mandatory under Government guidance but we know that this phase of reopening is worrying for some of our more vulnerable audience members, so we are asking everyone to consider wearing a face covering if they are in close proximity to others for a significant amount of time.
