Carol Ann Duffy and Manchester Metropolitan University present The People’s Poetry Lectures: leading writers talking about their favourite poets. Jean Sprackland, whose collections include Sleeping Keys and Green Noise, will be talking about American writer Elizabeth Bishop (1911 – 1979). Considered one of the 20th century’s finest poets, Elizabeth’s work was widely celebrated for its sharp observations and precise use of language. She published four collections in her lifetime including North & South, which won the Pulitzer Prize for Poetry in 1956. Join Jean and Carol Ann for this special event celebrating poetry.
