Manchester Literature Festival (MLF) seeks a Digital Engagement Co-ordinator to help promote this year’s Festival (7 – 23 October 2022) as well as year-round events and education projects. £5000 fee available for 40 days work June – December 2022.

About Manchester Literature Festival

Manchester Literature Festival is one of the North's most exciting Literature Festivals. Over the last 16 years, it has distinguished itself as a Festival that provides unique and imaginative opportunities for audiences to experience high quality live literature, poetry and spoken word. Alongside an annual Festival for two weeks each October, the Festival presents a Spring programme of events and ongoing education projects and fun activities for children and young people.

As an Arts Council National Portfolio Organisation, Manchester Literature Festival is committed to providing a platform for women writers, LGBTQ+ writers, working class writers and writers of colour. Whilst the Festival predominantly showcases Fiction, Poetry and World Literature from national, international and regional voices, we also host events with songwriters, artists, activists, feminists and environmentalists as part of our Culture strand.

Manchester Literature Festival is part of Manchester’s rich cultural tapestry and the Festival was central to the designation of Manchester as a UNESCO City of Literature in 2017. We have strong partnerships with other cultural organisations in the city and our events take place across some of Manchester’s most prestigious and atmospheric venues from RNCM and HOME to Central Library, International Anthony Burgess Foundation, The Whitworth and Manchester Museum.

Besides inspiring and intimate In Conversations, performances and showcases, we love producing new work and regularly commission poets and writers to create new work especially for us. Commissions are usually presented live at the Festival and shared with a wider audience over our digital media platforms.

About the Festival Team

Manchester Literature Festival is run by a dedicated team of two Co-Directors, a Children and Young People’s Programme Producer, an Admin Assistant and various Freelance staff. We are all passionate about storytelling, literature, culture and events. Between us, we have backgrounds in independent publishing, arts journalism, television, education and community work alongside Festivals. At present, we are operating a hybrid working model, with staff working from the office some days and working from home other days.

About the Role

The Digital Engagement Co-ordinator plays a small but vital role in the Festival team. Whilst the core task is to promote the 2022 Manchester Literature Festival and our year-round programme of events and creative learning activities across a range of digital and social media platforms, the role also entails creating new digital content and developing strategic and reciprocal marketing opportunities to enable the Festival to reach a wider and more diverse audience.
