Our Young Producers’ Programme will give young people aged 16 – 25 a chance to gain the skills needed to curate, produce and promote a strand of Manchester Literature Festival.

Participants will receive mentoring and training and will be given practical opportunities to help them develop, create and grow both professionally and personally; gaining insights into liaising with artists, producing events, marketing, customer service, funding and running activities.

Young Producers will also get the chance to complete an industry-recognised Arts Award.

We will be recruiting for this 9–month programme for young people later in the year. The programme will run weekly during term time one afternoon a week, 1-4pm in Central Manchester, culminating in the group becoming the production team for our Young Producers’ event as part of the festival in autumn 2021.

Our Young Producers’ Programme is mainly targeted to those least likely to access mainstream creative activities and we aim to build confidence, raise aspirations, increase teamwork skills and develop transferable job skills.

If you are a young person or would like to register interest on behalf of a young person that you think will benefit from joining the Young Producers’ Programme, please get in touch with our Children & Young People's Programme Producer: miriam@manchesterliteraturefestival.co.uk

We will send out further information and an application form during our recruitment drive November to December 2020. The project will start end of January 2021.

This project has been made possible through the generous support of the Postcode Community Trust.
