We are delighted to welcome former Poet Laureate Andrew Motion to deliver this year’s Manchester Sermon. Andrew Motion has received numerous awards for his poetry, has published four celebrated biographies and the memoir In the Blood. His most recent collection of poems, The Cinder Path, was shortlisted for the Ted Hughes Award for New Work in Poetry. Andrew Motion was knighted for his services to poetry in 2009. In an evening that also includes atmospheric music from Manchester Cathedral Choir, Andrew will be joined in conversation by the presenter of Radio 4’s Saturday Live, the Reverend Richard Coles, to discuss the sermon as a literary form and its place in contemporary culture.
