The Manchester Writing School at MMU established the Manchester Writing Prize to encourage, attract and celebrate new writing from across the world, making its city the focal point of a major international literary award. The 2013 Manchester Poetry Prize and 2013 Manchester Fiction Prize will reward the writers of the best portfolio of poetry and best short story each with a £10,000 prize.

Join judges Bernard O’Donoghue, Adam O’Riordan, Fiona Sampson, Alison Moore, Nicholas Royle and Robert Shearman at this glittering ceremony to hear debut readings from the shortlisted pieces and the announcement of the winners. Hosted by James Draper and Matthew Frost. For full details visit manchesterwritingcompetition.co.uk (The deadline for entries is 5pm (UK time) on Friday 30th August 2013)
