Get Involved

Manchester Literature Festival showcases the most exciting and inspirational writers from across the globe. We present a carefully curated programme of around 45-50 events each year as part of our main Festival in October alongside a small number of spring and Bookend events. Our main focus is on imaginative writing (fiction, poetry, spoken word, creative non-fiction and literary biography) and we provide unique opportunities for audiences to experience the best in contemporary writing.

Please note we are not a fringe or umbrella festival and it is not possible to “book a slot” in the programme. We receive thousands of submissions each year but are only able to include a handful of these in our programme, creating an exciting and balanced showcase of local, national and international writers.

If you are interested in participating in the festival, individual writers/publishers are welcome to submit information for consideration. Please do not phone the office; submission proposals should be emailed to office@manchesterliteraturefestival.co.uk and should contain details of:

• recent/forthcoming publications
• experience of performing at other events
• attachments or links to relevant writing/performance samples

If your submission is of interest one of our programmers will get in touch to discuss your proposal, but please be aware we are a very small team and don’t have the time to provide detailed responses to enquiries.

As well as attending events and participating as an author, there are several other ways you can get involved in MLF, such as volunteering, becoming a Get Closer Member, or participating in one of our year round projects for Children and Young People and their families.
